What is STEM?

STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The Government has long identified STEM education as a major priority at both school and HE level. In order to equip schools with the required tools, we are able to offer you bespoke services that will enable you to deliver STEM as a quality element of your school’s curriculum.

STEM teaching is of ever increasing importance in the curriculum and one that the job sector places great emphasis on. The UK economy is increasingly focused on research and technology, and needs people with the capabilities that STEM qualifications provide (National Stem Centre). Employers are constantly looking for the skills that are promoted through these subjects to continue the UK’s success story.

How we help with STEM Education

With 30 years teaching experience from reception to Higher Education, JD Engineering can work with schools and teachers to enable the skills involved in both STEM subjects and the general National Curriculum to be developed and applied for greater academic achievement.

Skills include:

  • Independent learning
  • Communication
  • Creativity
  • Problem solving
  • Team work

These skills will be developed alongside the National Curriculum’s over-arching aim of ‘preparing pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life’ through real world lessons.

JD Engineering and STEM Education

JD Engineering is able to offer a range of support including:

  • In house Enterprise days, enabling pupils to undertake a manufacturing project from conception to production.
